about us

Raising a child isn't easy, but it doesn't have to be hard.

Bright by Text delivers bite-sized, developmentally-targeted doses of our “whole-child, whole-family” curriculum to caregivers’ cell phones, including information about local events and services. Each message contains a concept, resource, or activity, and links to a landing page with more detail and examples, related resources, and many include a short modeling video. Text messages are tailored to the age of the child (prenatal to five years old), which the caregiver enters when signing up. Our two-generation program currently reaches over 14,000 parents/caregivers from all 64 Colorado counties, 68% of whom live in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) and/or Low Income Areas around the state. In addition to content from Bright by Three’s own curriculum, we have incorporated messages from established content partners including Vroom, PBS Kids for Parents, Sesame Street in Communities, Nurse-Family Partnership, Cooking Matters, Delta Dental, and others.

Offered in English and Spanish, Bright by Text is free and easy to access for any of the 96% of adults who own cell phones (Pew Research Center, 2019). Bright by Text equips Colorado families with evidence-based early childhood education, and we focus on reaching vulnerable and at-risk families. Our two-generation approach to strengthening families reaches caregivers with information and resources to promote healthy early childhood development, while enhancing caregiver knowledge and well-being. Over 35% of families served report their child is on Medicaid, CHIP, or no insurance. Bright by Text leverages publicly available data overlays to determine the risk factors that our subscribers face. According to independent outside research, 86% of text recipients experience at least one risk factor for an early childhood developmental delay.

In communities across Colorado, caregivers miss out on local resources like flu shot clinics, parenting groups, and other community early childhood services simply because they lack proper channels to connect them to an invaluable network of people and services who can help support their parenting efforts. Bright by Text is uniquely capable of providing targeted local content, based on the caregiver’s zip code. Partners are trained and supported by our staff to create community messages and access live dashboards tracking program enrollment and engagement.
